Meet the directors
Nicole Manley
Nicole is a practicing environmental artist and soil hydrologist at the British Geological Survey. She combines scientific disciplines of soils, ecology and hydrology with art-based research. She has two PhDs, one in soil, plant, water relations and the and the other in creative practice researching the influence of art on water management and policy. She presently engages with scientific research relating to human relationship with environment, such as disaster risk reduction and climate change. She uses creative practices with the intention of expressing different ways of thinking to understand patterns, relationships, and processes within nature, focusing on the relationship of water and human activities. She combines aerial photography, clay sculpture, embroidery, and audio techniques to generate connections between people and environment, in ways that are intuitive, phenomenological and experiential.

Directions to Artaffect Studios and Gallery
Our location is on the top floor of the Port House, 11 Exchange Street, Jedburgh, TD8 6BD.
Exchange Street is very busy at the moment, with several building renovations happening all at once, so the street is now one-way.
If coming by car it is best to park at the main free car park near the bus station. Walk up Market Place to the centre of Jedburgh. Exchange Street is straight ahead and is signed as a no-entry street for traffic. Walk past the scaffolding and 11 exchange street is the building with the big glass windows on the right.
If needing access by car take the Pleasance Road and turn onto Friars Street.
Contact us if needing further information.
